Restaurant photography in Philadelphia

Menu shoots, openings, new specials and monthly content for restaurants all over the city.

I spent 22 years working in restaurants. I know how a kitchen runs, so the shoot works around your prep, not through it.

Sunday Gravy is based in South Philly. I shoot for restaurants in East Passyunk, Fishtown, Center City, Old City, Northern Liberties and out on the Main Line.

What I shoot for restaurants

Menu shoots

Every dish, shot so they all match. For your printed menu, website, Google listing and delivery apps. Half a day covers the dishes that sell. A full day covers the whole menu, plus the room, the bar and your team.

New openings

You need photos before you open, not after. Food, drinks, the dining room set and empty, the bar, the sign out front, the people. Everything press and your launch posts will ask for. Here's a checklist for opening photos.

Dish drops

One hour, six photos. For a new special, a seasonal dish, or the thing you just added and need on Instagram by Friday.

Monthly content

One visit a month, ten photos for social. Your feed stays fresh and you don't have to shoot it on your phone between tickets.

How a restaurant shoot day works

Before. Send me the menu. We pick the dishes, make a shot list and choose a time, usually before service. You'll get a short prep checklist so the kitchen knows what's coming.

On the day. I set up in a corner of the dining room. The kitchen fires one plate at a time. I shoot it while it's hot and send it back. If a dish needs a second try, we fire it again.

After. I pick the best frames, edit them and deliver them sized for your menu, website, social and the delivery apps.

Restaurant photography pricing

Half-day menu shoot $500. Full day $950. Dish drop $250. Monthly content $600 a month. Details on the pricing page, and a longer answer in how much restaurant photography costs in Philadelphia.

Questions people ask

How much does restaurant photography cost in Philadelphia?

A half-day menu shoot is $500 for 20 finished photos. A full day is $950 for 45. A dish drop is $250 for an hour and six photos. Monthly content is $600 a month for one visit and ten photos. More on the pricing page.

Do we have to close for the shoot?

No. Most menu shoots happen before service, while the kitchen is prepping. We pick a window that works for you.

How many dishes can you shoot in a half day?

A half day gets you 20 finished photos. That can be 20 dishes, or 10 dishes with two angles each. We sort it out on the shot list before the day.

Who plates the food?

Your kitchen. It should look the way it goes out to the table. On set I'll tidy things up: wipe a rim, swap a tired garnish, turn the plate to its best side.

Can we use the photos on our website, Instagram and delivery apps?

Yes, that's what they're for. Menu, website, social, delivery apps, Google, press. We'll put the usage in writing before the shoot.

Do you shoot the dining room and the team too?

Yes. There's time for the room, the bar and your people on a full-day shoot. On a half day we can fit a few if the food list is short.
